Four generations of tradition

We are a fourth-generation family business with roots in northern Afghanistan, where the art of weaving rugs by hand has been passed down through generations.

Since 2008 we have brought this heritage to Spain. In our two stores in Madrid you will find handmade rugs from Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Uzbekistan, Turkey and across Central Asia.

From fleece to floor

Every Tailak rug is handmade with premium sheep's wool and natural dyes, using techniques passed down through generations.

Washing the wool
Raw fleece is washed by hand and dried in the sun before spinning.
Preparing the yarn
Spun wool is wound and measured out, ready for the loom.
Natural dyes
Plant and mineral dyestuffs are ground and weighed for each colour.
Dyeing
Yarn is dyed in small batches over a wood fire, so no two lots match exactly.
Drying in the sun
Dyed skeins dry in the open air, which settles and softens each tone.

Our roots are in Aqcha

Aqcha is a village in northern Afghanistan renowned for its rug-making tradition. Today we work with more than 200 local families, supporting skilled artisans and helping preserve their craft.
